Sig 938 or Kimber solo
I overheard some people talking about how wonderful the Sig shoots compared to the other micro-compacts. My wife needs a outfit tolerable 9mm (her Makarov is too big), is left handed and doesn't like a double action trigger pull. I found that the Kimber solo has ambidextrous mag and safety controls. Has anybody used the solo that could give me an update on the recoil since my wife has dainty wrists.

had both personally, and the significant other wanted to try both as well. she could not completely rack the slide of the solo (very stiff recoil spring), and could not perform the T.R.B. malfunction drills. otherwise, perceived recoil for her actually was less with the solo. also keep in mind that the solo is not a SAO like a 1911. its striker-fired with a ambi thumb safety

While not a 9mm, my wife carries the Sig P238 (.380) and loves it. Very accurate for a sub compact and easy to rack the slide. This was critical as she had trouble racking the slides on a number of other .380s and 9mms we have tried.

I have a P238 and a Solo. They''re both excellent guns, but very different. The Solo spring loosens up with use - mine's still pretty tight. Sig also makes a P239 - slightly larger, but in 9MM.

I own a solo. Recoil is quite snappy, much more so than my Kahr PM9. I doubt your wife will like shooting the Kimber.
Cant speak for the 938. The 238 is very light recoil. |

I have both. Accuracy is about the same with either, excellent. The recoil with the Kimber is snappier and double and tripple taps are hindered by the grip shape. Handel grip adapter cured that. The Sig will run anything reliably but the Kimber really needs at least 124gr bullet to be 100%. Not really a problem as Speer and Federal both load their ball 124 and 147 at affordable prices. I give a slight edge to the Sig overall but only a slight one.

I understand you can get an ambidextrous safety for the 238. It kicks like a .22. The only reason I sold mine was it has the same problem as the Colt Mustang (only worse). The extractor pokes up and if it gets pushed too far down (as it must to some extent to clear the slide reassembly), you now have a detailed low level dissassembly project or trip to the gunsmith on your hands. I understand the 938 has the same flaw as well as another.
http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=371487 My recommendation for your wife is something in the tried and true Kahr line. They work, they recoil (and cost) less than the Kimber Solo, and they don't have the design flaws of the Sigs. The Beretta Nano might be worth a look, I have no experience with it.
