FTE in a Five-Seven

I finally found some good factory ammo to feed the Five-Seven I miraculously found the other day at an obscenely low price and took it shooting today.

The thing shoots like a wet-dream, but on the first mag I had an FTE, where it cycled, but didn't eject (nor jam) and I dropped the hammer again on a spent shell. After that the other 100 rounds were no problem.

I though an Five-Seven would have such a problem, nor need a break-in period like a 1911, but is this common? I've never seen a Glock, HK or Sig need a breaking period.

It sounds like a round that had much less powder in it than it should have had. Just enough to cycle the gun but not enough to get the slide back enough to eject the cartridge.

When you shot it, did it seem like you had just shot a .22LR instead of a 5.7x28mm?

I would give it a good cleaning, oil it, and probably chalk it up as an ammunition failure more than the gun if it doesn't happen any more.

I can't remember if it was like a .22 or not. I was too excited to be finally shooting it.

I've had things like that happen with .22 rounds, as I shoot thousands-and-thousands of those a year, but I didn't think that would happen with FN factory ammo in a Five-Seven.

Did you happen to clean and dry the bore before you started shooting?
The FiveSeven uses the varnish on the casing for delayed blow back. sounds like you might of had a sticky case.

PS Save you brass it's reloadable.
