ruger 7744 vs savage 220 for deer in IN

Im thinking of buying another deer rifle next year. I already have a marlin 1894 in 44mag and ive always had success with it. I put a set of skinner sights on it for closer shots. I want to get another rifle and mount a scope on it. I thought about the ruger 7744, but I recently handled a savage 220 and I also like that. Should I get another 44 or get the savage in 20 gauge ?

I would look into the savage 20ga. If you wanted to cross over into Ohio you would be covered. I think Illinois is shotgun only too. Just saying you would have more choices . The 77/44 is pricey and won't do anything more than your Marlin.
Have been considering a 220 Savage my self .
