Reloading for Savage axis 30 06

Hello. starting to work up a load for my fathers savage axis in 30 06. Is there any recommendations for a good accurate loading for this gun. Looking for any one that owns or has reloaded for this model of gun, and their experience with it. loading a hornady interlock 165gr btsp, and a 165gr sierra game king btsp Thank you.

My 700 likes those Sierra 165'S with 56.5 grains of IMR4350, but you need to start at least 10 percent lower...shoots very consistant and accurate.

Been using 165 Game Kings in my -06 for 35 years. I 've switched from IMR4350, to H4350 as it flows much better through my measure,(shorter granuals ). I load it over 57 grains of powder, bullet is seated .030" off the lands of my rifle. Might be too long in your magazine, this load is for an older Mossberg not a Savage.

A classic 30-06 load with 165gr bullets is 57gr of IMR4350 and a COAL of 3.300...HOWEVER start 10% lower and work up. My Mossberg 30-06 shoots 57gr IMR 4350 and a 165gr Speer BTSP into 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards all day long. Just gotta keep the barrel on the cool side.
