Installing Grip Safety
Hi All,
Does anyone know of some on-line instructions for installing a grip safety on a 1911? I looked and can't find any. I need to install a drop in beavertail grip safety on my Officer's Model. Appreciate the help. -Jason |

Have you been at http://www.191forum.com and asked in the GUNSMITHING TALK forum?

Jason, Do you know how to remove and replace the thumb safety? If so, it should be a matter of "Dropping in" the new safety.

Jason, as you may have already found out many times drop-in parts require a little fitting. With the grip safety on the 1911 its the finger that needs attention. The bottom and rear of the little "L" underneath the front of the finger may need a little filing to fit correctly. Just go slowly. File a couple of stroks and check it, file a couple of strokes and check it, until it works properly. George

Thanks for the advice, and thanks to Harley for sending me the .jpg with the instructions. I'll take a run at it this evening.
