P95 Ruger eject problem
Could someone could tell me why my P95 Ruger won't eject?
That is the burning question in my mind! It's not weak ammo. It's not from a limp wrist. It's not from re-loads. Clean enough to eat on.(tho that might cause other issues.) So............... Any hints would be greatly appreciated. |

Can you describe the problem in more detail. Are the rounds just jumping up and not flipping back and right, or are they not being ejected at all?

Take the slide of off the gun and remove the barrel. Slide an empty case up under the extractor claw. The case should stay there even if you shake the slide pretty good. If it just falls out you need more tension on the extractor. To fix this you need to take out the extractor and add tension. Take a small screw driver and push on the claw of the extractor so it moves outward from the slide. At the same time you need to push the extractor forward towards the muzzle and it will slide out of the groove in the slide. Once you have it out you can bend the the extractor a little to add tension. Reinstall the extractor and test with a shell again. You might have to repeat this a couple of times to get it right.

Thanks for the quick replies.
The slide after firing moves back as it should about 95% of total travel. Then it stays there. I have to manually pull slide rest of way to clear rest of spent cartridge. This happens on every round. I thought it was weak ammo when it 1st. started happening but I've used factory loads and my own hot re-loads with same result. I don't think it's the extractor, as it pulls spent cartridge out of chamber Ok. I will wait for a reply. Thanks. |

Check to see if you have the recoil spring in it the right way.

Is the ejector ok?
Not broken or missing? Not the extractor, but the ejector.

The P95 has had some issues with bent extractors. http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f...m-fixed-25389/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy8WBpB1cAc http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/133...functions.html

railroader
I finally got a chance to do as you suggested. I put a 9mm spent casing under the extractor claw as you suggested and it stays in place. I even banged it a few times with the palm of my hand and no movement. Thanks, Tom. |
