I think you have asked a question which on you can answer.
Are you going to test different power charges? Different primers? Different COALs? different brass? Different temps? What is good enough for you?

You have an actual Ransom rest or do you mean shooting from a rest?
From a Ransom rest, after it's been settled in with a couple dozen shots, 1"or less @ 25 yards should be about par for the course with a quality revolver and a good handload. If you're shooting over sandbags you should be able to shoot under 2" depending on your eyes and hands. |

If you cannot get anywhere close to what JMorris posted above from 50yds, at 25, then something is wrong.
These were shot freehand at 25yds from my Redhawk in 45 Colt, and Raging Bull in 454, 45 Colt, Oregon Trail 200gr(top) 250gr (bottom) 454, Lee 300gr 1570fps At least as good or better than those.... What powders are you looking to use? Do you plan on trying to shoot double action groups? For what your looking at I would suggest looking at possibly giving some AA-2, Unique, or Red Dot a try in the 38, and A-7 or 9, possibly 2400. For combat type loads you don't want the flash for sure, and the best velocity you can get with out leading or muzzle jump. When you get to the 41 give 2400 or 110/296 a try. My mainstay load for it uses 20.5grs of 296 under the Remington 200gr SJHP. Very nice load, very accurate out of several revolvers I and others have used it in. If you want to use lead in it, I can honestly say that you should give Dry Creek Bullet Works, a hard look followed by Montana Bullet Works. They both put a VERY fine 41 bullet together that should serve your needs very well.
