need load data for z max CFE223

I just bought a pound of CFE223 powder and 500 rounds of the Hornady 55 grain Zmax. I cant find any load data for this combination,I havent used either of these before, so I am looking for a place to start, I usually use 55 gr v max with H335 powder at 22.7 grs. would that be a good starting point or would you go a bit more. the only load data on hodgdon website for a 55 gr bullet was for the sp point.
Im sure this has been hit on before but I cant seem to find any threads on it.

Thanks

Try checking the Hodgdon's site for load info. So far they are the only known source for data.

http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

Listed on thier site.
Bullet weight/type Powder Bullet size COL Startiong weight
55 GR. SPR SP Hodgdon CFE 223 .224" 2.200" 26.0 3133 43,300 PSI 27.8 3329 51,300 PSI

Start at the starting load.

I contacted Hornady about the same question. They said it is the same load data as the V-Max. They said it is the same bullet as the V max with a green ZOMBIE tip. The only place I have found the V max data is in the Hornady book. I hate buying books.

oopps, sorry Guess I forgot to mention that I am loading 223.

I kinda figured it would be the same as the v max but wasnt sure about the difference bewteen the powders, h335 vs. cfe223

Im gonna give hodgdon a call today and see what they say

I have the 7th edition hornady book and took a look at the 8th edition and theres nothing in it about the cfe223 powder, actually I dont recall seeing anything with the superformance powder either, youd think hornady and hodgdon would stay on the same page with each other since alot of their products are used in conjuction with one another..or maybe I just missed it

talked to Hodgdon today they said the only 55 gr bullet in 223 that they tested with the CFE223 powder was a 55 gr spire soft point.

min load was 26 gr of powder with 3133 fps and max load was 27.8 gr with 3329 fps

he said the z max should be in the same ball park.

I called while on my lunch break so I didnt have a whole lot of time for many questions. but I figure this will get me started.

Yep. As long as a bullet is the same weight and construction, you can interchange data.

Just start low and work up slow.
