# 4 enfield bayonet lug removal
Is the front bayonet lug on the #4 enfield silver soldered on or is is a press fit? My son shoots one as his deer rifle and would like to remove it. Or is it better to just cut it off and have the barrel recrowned? Thanks

The bayonet lugs of the No.4 are made as part of the barrel. I don't know why anyone would bother to remove them (unless required by law), but they can be ground off, milled off, or the barrel can be cut down and re-crowned.
