Black Bear Population Taking Over Eastern U.S. States

Saw this on MSNBC didn't know that the Black Bear population had increased to these numbers or size. Never hunted them though my father and uncles did when I was a small child.

Guess I missed that story since I wouldn't be caught dead watching PMSNBC but I did see recently a story about black bears increasing in number into East Texas. There have been quite a few sightings as far east as just past Tyler, Tx.

We have had an explosion in population around here. See one atleast a few times a week at night in the summer.

'Bears tug at human heart strings' Let a bear get into your kitchen and you better just call Bob Vila !!
Pa game officials told us that bears are now having as many as five cubs instead of just two as in the past ! Yes they're doing very well .And they grow big like the 800+ pond bear taken in NJ.
Now if we could just get them to admit that mountain lions exist we'd really be surprised.

Interesting that this is making it into of all places MSNBC. I discussed this issue last year on another post on TFL and listed several links to population increases of black bears not only on the east coast, but throughout the United States.
