reuseing range slugs in sabots anyone?
was just thinking of a way to reuse a gi ammo can full of 45 fmj. the slugs are ok , just thinking that i could put them in a sabot and use them for practice shooting,anyone try this?

As long as the slugs are in primo condition - it wouldn't hurt a thing to load them up in a sabot and have at it. But if the bullets have defects in them, you can only expect the accuracy from them to have defects - even so it would still make good practice for reloading for 2nd shots and just getting used to muzzleloading if you haven't already been at it for awhile.

And if they don't shoot well at the longer ranges, it's always a fun challenge to shoot at very small targets at a close distance like 25 yards.
25 yards is a competition distance for NMLRA black powder club shoots. And being able to shoot well off hand at close range makes a person much happier than not shooting so well at longer range! |
