H380 in a 308???
Being that H380 is right next to RL15 (RL-15 is #87 and H380 is #88) on my powder burn chart, has anyone tried it in a 308? I have 8 pounds of it and don't shoot a 22-250 anymore and was wondering how it would work. I'm sure that there are much better choices but thought about using it to fireform brass and break in new barrels. If anyone has any experience (good or bad) I sure would like to hear them. I have about 600 Hornady Match (168grs) that I intend to shoot. I shoot the Lapua/175mk/Varget/br2 load when I am serious. How 'bout it guys?
Thanks, Keith |

I have used H380 in a 308 rifle for 30+ years
with every satisfaction in the 308 bolt guns. In the 308 gas guns I chose other ball propellents as H380 can run the action a bit too fast from higher port pressures.
There is lots of data for it in recent loading manuals too. |

H-380 From 41.3 grains to 51.0 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer In my testing of the .308 with 165 to 170 grains bullets, H-380 proved to be the best...

I've used a ton of it, (well, maybe not quite a ton) with 147 gr FMJ bullets and Remington standard 9 1/2 large rifle primers. Although I like H-335 a bit better, the H-380 worked just fine. Use it! I betcha you'll like it!
