Cheap thermal scope?

Hello everone, I'm looking for a fairly cheap decent thermal scope. I don't have a lot of money but preferably at or under $2500 if possible. Most I've seen are 3000 at the cheapest. Does anyone know where I could find one?

I have no idea, but I'd really like to see what people have to write on the subject. It's actually one of the things my wife would like me to get. She loves the idea of seeing the critters in the dark.

I don't think you'll find a decent thermal scope anywhere that cheap. Two years ago, good ones were about $12K. Now, they are down to about $5-6K. Anything cheaper than that and you won't be getting the quality.

Cheap and thermal image don't mix sorry to say.

I have two hand held thermal imagers that I keep in the barns in case of fires, so cant really help you with rifle scopes. But look for the brands FLIR and ATN. You might try Ebay.

Thermal, IR or image intensifier?

(Clarifying the difference between Thermal, intensifier and IR)

If you want 'cheap', you may find a cheap thermal or IR surplus Russian / Warsaw Pact gear from the late 80's / 90's. I saw both in Pakistan and Malaysia some years ago, for much less than you're expecting, all under $1K.

Rumor had it that some may have made their way to the US.

CAVEAT! Some of these were known to have a high UV output, and may cause long term eye problems (aka blindness).

Be careful if you go too cheap...

Just for seeing in the dark I would reccomend night vision...only a few hundred for those.

And yeh I've seen the ones for 5k and have actually found a atn scope for 3k but I was looking to hopefully get one for 2500 or less but guess I'm just out of luck there....I'll just save up for a while...hopefully I'll be able to get one around feb. Or mar.
