I've not shot both, but will say the photos look very similar. It could well be the Nightmare's are repackaged bulk Hornady product. The price is about the same. If you spent the $457.15 they ask for the bulk package of 6000 Hornady cannelure SP's, that would come out to about $38.10/500. MidSouth will get those 6000 packs at a distributor's discount price, so it may pay them to repackage and sell them that way. You could call MidSouth and ask who makes the Nightmares.

I called Mid South and they said they cannot divulge the manufactures name.
I found that a little strange since Midway USA says right in the description that their dog towns are made by Nosler.

I have used for the 22-250. For some reason the Hornady soft point worked so much better! Would you like to try some of them? Let me know!

OPPS sorry. .224

I have quite a few Hornady SXSP 55 grain that I load for a Mini-14. They definately won't work at Swift velocities, I tried them just for giggles and watched a vapor trail all the way to a 100 yard target with no pieces piercing the target.

The varmint nightmare and dogtown are the the same bullet. It been said that they are made by Nosler. If I was you I would buy a few to try. I used them in 6 different rifles 2.204s 2.223s 22-250 and .220 The one gun I couldn't get good groups at 100yds. The other 5 shot half decent at 100 yds all over the paper at longer range.Don't ask me why I don't know and I shot a lot of them.
The one .223 shot them into .75 at 100yds. At 165 (the furthest I can shoot at the house) they were close to 2 inches.

I have only tried Dog Town bullets in 204 and they did not shoot well in my CZ. The Varmint Nite Mares I have shot in several different 22 cal. rounds and they have done real well for me. The Nite mare Suprems are a thicker skinned bullet, while the reaguar one are very thin skinned. I have 2,000 bullets on hand and have loaded 4,000 of them, need to say I really like them.
