Russ Hamm locks

Its been a few years since I shot flinch-locks, but I used to enjoy it a lot. Now, older but still no wiser, I'm getting back to it. My rifle is one I built about 30 years ago, using a left-hand Hamm lock. I understand these are no longer being made. Is there a good place to find replacement parts? If I decide to replace the entire lock (Hamm's are pretty small for a rifle) what would you recommend? As I said, been out of the game for 20+years and some of the new names are not familiar.

Russ passed away a few years ago. He sold the "Atomic Frizzen" which I have.

Dixie Gun Works used to carry those locks. They might have some parts still, or information on where to find them.

Some of the top name locks are Jim Chambers, L&R and R.E. Davis.

You didn't ask, but I'll bet you could sell that Hamm for more than enough to buy a current manufacture lock. They are highly desirable.

Thanks for the information. Rifleman, sounds interesting, but (VERY long story) this Hamm has seen better days. Still, its a thought. With a little more research and retirement winters coming up, maybe I'll just try to repair this again and start a new rifle build project. Used to want a .36 for small game and groundhogs. Gotta stay busy
