I've got a TZ-99 9mm pistol that's failing
to extract. I took it to a 'smith, and he
said that the extractor is weak (you can move
it with your finger - I believe they should
be a little stiffer). Anyway, the distributor
I got the pistol from doesn't have any parts.
I'd heard that the extractor from a CZ-99
will work in a TZ. If anybody knows where I
might find one, I'd sure appreciate it. Hate
to be stuck with a $375 single-shot. ;-(

Thanks,

Warren Young

wry762, I'm not really all that familiar with the TZ-99 but isn't the extractor mounted on the side of the slide? If so, underneath it is a coil spring. If the extractor is "weak" I would remove it, polish the sides to insure no burrs are interfering with it's movement and replace the spring with a slightly heavier one. But since this type of extractor is supposed to move I would guess that it needs adjustment to the claw. It may not be deep enough or the angle may not be right. If it's under warranty send it back to the manufacturer/importer. If not I suggest you get a "second opinion" from another smith. George

I'm not sure if there's a spring under the
extractor... I believe that the extractor
itself just works like a long leaf spring.

I had a dealer order the pistol for me. After
I started having problems, I went back to the
dealer - who told me to call the distributor.
The distributor told me that the pistols were
sold as "surplus", and were not under
warranty. He had sold out of them by this
point, and had no parts. I located the
importer, and he's my only lead at the
moment. (He's checking his warehouse for the
part, and I'm waiting to hear from him.) I'll
try a 'second opinion' if I can't locate the
part - maybe I'll find someone who can modify
another extractor to fit. The manufacturer
(Tressitu) has a web site, but it's currently
down. I'll email them if and when their site
comes back up. As I'm sure you can guess,
I've been working on this for a while. The
pistol didn't start acting up right away, and
the first few times it jammed I just wrote it
off to cheap ammo. When I finally noticed the
problem, a few months had gone by.

Thanks,

Warren Young
