Bolt actions with thick barrels

Anyone know of any bolt action rifled 12 gauges that have a nice thick barrel, going to convert it to shoot 3.5 and it needs to have the thickest barrel, particularly at the chamber area, not looking to spend more than 400

The issue becomes that IF you have a chamber lengthened, then the material taken from the chamber area will make it be the weakest, so proceed with care

I ask only because their are other choices that would do what your looking for ballistics wise.
Now if you just want one because, that's a different matter.

I'm aware of the chamber thickness problem, which is why I want something with a nice thick or bull barrel if they make it, reason for wanting it Is my desire for a more power shotgun

^Was going to suggest that as well.

It is basically necking up a .50 BMG to a straight walled cartridge. The bolt face is about identical to a 12 gauge iirc.

Look up the savage 212, its a little more than 400 but I think your budget is a little low for what your wanting. You could always re-barrel the 212 at some point.

Heh heh, I was wondering who would figure out what I was up to first. Unfortunately I do not have the money to do the full 12ga from hell just yet, plan on just getting some 3.5 rmc brass and shoot some big loads from those as Ed suggested, just wondering if there's anything thick barreled like the nef out there. Might just get one of those if I can't find a sturdy bolt action , can't find any slug guns locally though

There used to be a clamped on muzzle extension with rifling for the 12 ga shotguns, to improve accuracy with the Foster slugs.
Never met anyone who tried one of these, and never saw a field test article.

If these were available I would not mind having one. My Maverick 95 barrel walls are not thick enough to thread for a rifled muzzle insert.

Yeah the guys a genius , been waiting on a reply before I buy a shotgun, I think il just get an NEF and save up to chamber a rifle in a wildcat I've Been toying with for about a year, not sure if I should talk to Ed about that or not, based of the 50 bmg like several, I'd go ahead and do it, but don't have a lathe or a 50 bmg reamer to modify, too expensive for now

A while back he told me what the minimum dimensions of a 12 Gauge barrel were to fire one of his loads (and load information too. Used - I think - Reloader 17). I can't remember where I tucked that information away right now. Probably be faster for you to ask himdirectly. With that load he was approaching the .458 Winchester Magnum for Muzzle Energy.

I don't think I'd want to shoot that from a NEF. Tear your shoulder off.

Oh yeah he's got A load for the NEF that's pushing 10000 ft lbs. i like the recoil, I've got one in a 10 ga I lightened up for maneuverability, can shoot it all day, but I must admit I'm alittle nervous
