I've got a S&W 2nd Model in .455 Colt-Eley and I have to reread all my notes everytime I think about them.

From what I'm seeing, the MkIII revolver fired the Webley MkI cartridge (0.886" Max case length, 1.457" OAL) using 18grs of blackpowder. The MkII cartridge is about 0.10" shorter, fires smokeless and uses a small primer. The .455 Colt-Eley, the 3rd iteration, went back to the longer MkI case dimensions, this time with smokeless.

I believe Ken Waters' Pet Loads covers the MkI.

Good luck. I stopped messing with mine after lodging bullets halfway down the bore.
