Yup..should be no problem...
The guide rod, trigger job are internal..the sights are specifically allowed and the basepads are a factory item with the Elite II. Have fun.. |

The stock Elite II comes with a plastic guide rod. IRC, some of the older Berettas have SS guiderods. This is the thing I'm not sure about, but I think it IS a factory Beretta item.

Yes. There was a shooter that shot in the GA IPSC 2001 State Match that used a Beretta E2 in Production. He came in second place.

I guess my question is, if the SS guide rod is a factory (i.e. Beretta manufactured) item, but not part of the gun and I have to get it through another source (i.e. Langdon Tactical), will I be Production legal?

I'm going to weigh in with a contrary opinion.
I don't think the guide-rod is OK. If you got a plastic rod, then you need to shoot a plastic rod. I know it's a production part, but not in YOUR gun. Replacing the guide rod was not covered in the list of allowed mods. "g. Action work to enhance reliability (throating, trigger work, etc.) is allowed." I know there is an unknown amount of room there in the "etc.", but that's what I think. Also, If the base pads on the magazines are add-on, then those aren't kosher either. There was a BIG discussion about magazine lengh on the IPSC mail list and the opinion of John Amidon, chief RO or something like that is that magazines should be of the same overall specs as factory mags. Therefore, if the rubber pads make it longer, then it is not OK. Now, I will be the first one to admit that the rules do not support that position well. But that was the intent. Jhisaac |

A steel guide rod would be allowed as it's internal. What would disallow it is the following clause:
USPSA 14th Editition Rule Book - Pg. 91 Appendix E US Divisions Maximum weight, Yes, 2 oz. over factory. I think, but am not sure, the answer to this was published in Front Sight when somebody asked about replacing the plastic guide rod in a Glock with a steel part. Basepad bumpers would be legal if they are used on the stock mags included with the gun. If not, they aren't, even if they are Beretta parts. |
