Funnel Static
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate static in a powder funnel? I live in a dry climate and when loading my rifle rounds, I have a lot of trouble with the powder sticking to the sides of the funnel. (a Lee plastic funnel)
Any suggestions would be great! |

There are plenty of things you can do.
Wipe it down with a dryer sheet used for laundry. Clean it with car polish. Wipe down the inside with graphite. Clean with soap and water and don't rinse. Let the soap film dry on the surface. These and probably others will reduce or eliminate the static cling. |

I like the dryer sheets. I live in a similar climate and use dryer sheets on both funnel and Lyman powder measure hopper. They are quick and easy to use, and work great.

Yea, I received advice here about using the dryer sheet. Did it once and no static problems since. Good advice!

The "secret" ingredient in dryer sheets is soap. Lick a trigger finger tip, run it over bar soap and then rub a thin soap film over your funnel.

You could steal a can of your wife Static Guard and drift some of it down into the funnel. It does wonders in my powder measures.
Just don't get caught. |

I ask local reloaders if they had interest in powder I had located, I purchased 16 pounds, they wanted 3 pounds, we used a clean/new funnel. Static electricity slowed the process so I used a sissy stick (straw), while they poured I keep the funnel from clogging/bridging, then instantly, without warning, like magic, the cling in that think stopped, I was no longer needed. We all pretended to know we ‘knew what we were doing’.
To stop that cling you ‘gotta’ use that thing. and it helps to have all those household hints. F. Guffey |
