reloading data for Ranieir 165gn copper plated HPs
On ranieirballistics.com it states to load their copper plated bullets under lead cast numbers. Problem is I can't find even find lead cast specs for .40 s&w in 165 graiin. Does anyone have the specs or a link to??
Thanks, smogdude |

I have used a moderate load of power pistol with the ranier and other plated bullets for yrs with no problems. Just keep velocity below 1000fps, I believe my load is around 6 to 6.5 grs.

Call them. They will give you the data on the phone. They will not mail it though.

What powders are you wanting to use? Are you wanting a good plinking low recoil load or competition bullseye?

7.0gr @ 1.125" using Remington and Federal primers works great in MY gun. This is for reference only. Results may be different for yours. Test carefully and be safe.

Thanks... I'll probably start at about 6.5 @ 1.125" and work up at .1 till I get where I want.

What about Winchester 231 powder using the same bullets? What is a good min and max load?

I called them and I forget the woman's name I talked with but she was very friendly and knowledgable. She gave me load data for AA#5 and Unique.. (although I'll have to call her back... forgot to write it down.)
