WC145 i've been meaning to ask you about your 'melt' 1911.
How do you take that thing down? does it just do the normal bushing and plug or is it something different? I can see the bushing but the plug area is a bit hard to define.

It has Clarks bushing and reverse plug. You insert the plug from behind instead of from the muzzle end of the slide.
Rickb - Tell us more about your gun! I like the bobbed hammer and shortened beaver tail, who did thd work and what else has been done on it? Is that a Gold Cup slide on a Caspian frame?

Mostly a Series 80 Gold Cup, fit to a Caspian barstock frame. Hammer is a standard, round-hole Commander type, trimmed into a short spur. Grip safety was trimmed and blended to match the frame contours. Kart EZ-fit barrel and bushing. I did the work on those parts.
The Wilson sight was installed by Angle-Bore, and the blue finish by JPL Precision. Here's the "internal magwell", that I did with files and a dremel |

Talk about Sensory Overload...I see a DW and say Oh Wow, and then right behind it a Kimber and say Holy xxx, and right behind that is a Colt and I say That's Just Too Good, and next I see ...... and on and on. Too much for my simple mind. Congrats to all on the great pistols shown here. Got to go sit down and let my heart slow down a little.

Weeew...same here.
I am seriously amazed at the fine attention to detail in some of these pieces. I am relatively new to the 1911 model and just absorbed a ton of valuable info and now understand what a fully custom job looks like from the finish, to a bobbed hammer & beavertail, trigger job, grips & accessories, etc. Amazing collections guys, I'm officially jealous and even more intrigued to the 1911 scene. Aside from the original Browning/Colt models that were handsome guns in their own right....some of these custom jobs are truly works of art. I wouldnt even wanna fire them! |

Here's a picture of my very favorite -- a 1965 Colt National Match Gold Cup with box, test target and papers.
Obviously, it's a safe queen. My Stainless Colt Combat Commander on the other hand is a great pistol and gets more range time.

Here's business and no foolin' around with glitz or bling...it's a WWll Remington-Rand 1911A1, as issued. Accuracy runs to two inch groups at 25 yds with the original barrel and bushing. No tellin' how many Vets owe their lives to this pistol and others of her ilk. Rod

No Doubt JMB Would Be Proud!
Amazing eye-candy for a design as functional today as it was 100+ years ago. How many man-made things can you say that about ?
If you are as big of a fan of his sheer genius as I am, obviously you can Youtube quite a bit on JMB but there's not much at all in the way of video (DVD) outside of this which was produced via his Utah connections and it's quite good indeed (available on Amazon as well of course). For those of us that still read , however, there's obviously still a plethora of available material to be had: http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Am...2?locale=en-US

Sig/GSG 1911-22
willhud,
Nice indeed--How do you like it and how has it performed? I have same gun in Blue (I like that "Earth" finish on yours indeed) in the GSG model and it's been really fun to shoot (reliable as well) and provided a great training 1911 platform absent the .45acp ammo costs. Next best thing so to speak .
