1911 Mags

Im sure this is a stupid question, but do 7 round mags fit in a Colt Government full size that came with 8 rounders? Are they interchangeable?

The 8 rounders have a different spring design which enables them to squeeze in an additional round.

The 1911 was originally designed with a 7-round mag and then later someone came up with a new mag follower that allowed an extra round to fit in the same magazine body. Unless it specifically says it's for an OFFICER model it should work in a fullsize 1911.
