I have several, but currently my favorite that I have is my 657-4 .41 mag Mountain Gun. Why? - because I have always been partial to the .41 mag, and you don't see very many of the Mountain Guns in the .41 out there. There are some, though, as a previous poster also mentioned having and liking one. I had to put some thought into this - as I also have a 4" model 57 no dash P & R with presentation case that I am quite proud of. jben

At one time I had a half dozen or so, but I've reduced my inventory down to just two.

27-2, 3 1/2" barrel. 357 of course.

24-3, 4" barrel, 44 Special.

I like 'em both.

29/629 I enjoy them both. I think 44 mag is one of the most fun rounds to shoot for target or hunting. Its light enough shooting but has enough power to give stuff a real pop.

I would like to pick up one of the 8shot 357s though. I think that would be a pleasure to shoot as well.

Quincunx, the only thing better than having a 657-4 .41 mag Mountain Gun is having two of them. You're a lucky guy! jben

Favorite is a 25-5; also 6" model 57 and 4" model 28. 3 1/2" 27 and 4" 57 on my list for one day.

My favorite is my 4" 29, mostly because I find it easier to carry when hiking. After that, any of my longer barreled N frames will do the job, but the 629 Classic is the most accurate.

my 4 inch 610 is my slight favorite. took a buck and a doe openning day this year. first handgun deer, at 20 and 25 yards. the chops are delish.

Something doesn't seem right ~ the British Purchasing Commission objected to the third lock at the yoke and specifically stated that it be eliminated. So far as I know, no .455s were Triple Lock. All known Triple Locks that I know of are .44 Specials.

I believe there was one .455 Triple Lock made up, but it also had the full ejector rod shroud. Both of these features were to be eliminated on contrtact guns.

I like all my N frame revolvers as well but have been favoring my 8 shot model 627 .357 magnum the most lately !

There are pictures of 455 triplelocks in Supica/Nahas' Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson. They did have issues with mud from the trenches getting into the nooks and crannies and requested what became the 2nd model.

I've heard that the British government converted many .455s to .45acp for logistics and I've also heard importers modified them for the surplus American market. I like to think it served the allies in both world wars but I have no idea if thats true or false.

Its got English proof marks, it was over there. Like many men who served, being there was service.

Not a photo of mine, but it looks the same. That is to say, mine doesn't wear the rails, giant reflex, and giant flashlight like the infamous Rifleman photo that makes everyone assume it's Mall Ninja jewelery)

This is the photo that sealed the deal for me:

Light as an L frame, controllable as an N-frame, good-quality DA/SA trigger, good-quality sights, perfect barrel length, attractive lines (I prefer the CZ52's looks over the 1911, FWIW

), capacity of a Coonan, better day-to-day reliability than a Coonan, reloads faster than a Coonan with moonclips... --just the perfect combo of attributes for a hiking companion

Very few holsters for it, but the Bianchi X15 works as a shoulder rig
