Ho do you measure barrel length?
Hello,
I bought a nice Mossburg shotgun at the last gun show. It appears the barrel was cut off to about 18 inches sometime in the past. How do I measure the length of the barrel to make sure it is 18" or longer? Call me paranoid....... Mark |

Unload gun.
Make sure it's unloaded. Close the slide. (you unloaded it, right? ) Take a cleaning rod, without any attachments. Insert it into the bore (from muzzle end). Push it down till it contacts the bolt face. Mark where the end of the muzzle is on the rod. Remove rod. Measure from mark to end of rod. Easier to do than say. Best of luck. Oh, if it's shorter than 18" - destroy it right away. |

Thanks for the information. The barrel is 18 and 3/8 inch long.
I took it out to the range and it did just fine. It will make a great bedside gun. Mark |
