Smith & Wesson small "J" frame hammer---

I have 2 revolvers that someone has filed part of the hammer off .
One is a S&W model 37 Airweight 1 7/8 inch barrel and there's not
much left to cock it with.
The other is a S&W model 60-10 -3 inch barrel and it's just slightly
filed enough to round off the rear of the hammer.
Anyone have a used hammer they don't need ?

Thanks

They did you a favor. Now you have the impetus to learn to shoot double action like the designers intended. With barrels as short as these, it is no doubt that the guns are only meant to be used for self defense. Single action cocking has doubtful benefit, if any at all, for a self defense gun/situation.

The only problem with lightening an already small and light hammer is that you reduce the momentum and there might not be enough left to reliably fire the gun. Worse, a bobbed hammer often is accompanied by a "trigger job" involving reduction of mainspring tension.

So it is not just a matter of "learn to shoot it DA"; it may be a matter of the gun not working at all.
