.480 & .454 Ruger rifling condition?
I looked over a .480 and .454 Ruger at the gunshop today and noticed the rifling of each had an orangy-reddish color in the grooves. Any ideas what it is? Both only had two cylinders fired (only two cylinder holes with powder marks) so it couldn't be copper fouling of any sort (I was told that Ruger tests with lead bullets).

Don't know bout the color but it says a lot for their quality control if they only had two holes fired.
I did get a Smith tho that had had NO holes tested. Oh well, they cost so little, why should we expect them to work all the time. Sam |
