.410s 2.5 inch or 3 inch shells?

I was just given a .410 that says 3" on the gun.Does that mean I can use 2.5 inch also?I am very new to .410s,so I want to be sure its safe to use the shorter shells.

Go for it Sam. 410 chambered for 3" handles 2 1/2" just fine. A .410 seperates a real shooter from the " spray and pray" crowd--enjoy

Yep, 2 1/2 or 3-inch shells are okay. You didn't mention what type of gun you have. A pump or auto may have difficulty loading the shorter shells via the magazine. If that's the case, you can load directly (single shot) into the port and close the bolt.
