Like I said, it could be done. I got a box of CBs I had for about 10 years. Just to play with. Shot about 2-4 in last 10 years. I remember they don't sound like they got alot of umph but if that's all I had. I would care to shoot a cat at 10 yards away unless it's all I had. I shot alot of deer with a regular 22 in the head and it basically paralyzed them, not kills them. I shot tons of hogs in traps and you sure need alot of gun there. It can be done but if you had anything else I still don't know why? Like the deer I shot why? I was outside its what I had and was gonna feed my family that's why! But it was done.

Farmer boy, I don't really care if you believe me or not, it happend. The round pierced it's skull and killed it dead. Is it hard to believe that 32ftlbs of energy cannot push a 29 grain bullet threw the top of a coyotes skull? People see the words ".22 short" and think, geez, its like a bb gun. I have shot squirrels with it as well, it completely penetrates them. Sure, I could have used a larger round, but I am not a fan of blowing bone fragment into myself.

Ok I believe you! I know what you mean too about bone fragments. I had a friend last year went deer hunting and took a 300 weatherby mag. Shot a deer at 100 yards and it killed the deer but almost killed him too. There was bone fragment that flew everywhere. He looked like a porcupine got him. Had to go to the hospital and everything. So yes, that happens too.

"Once upon a time"

Are you sure this post shouldn't have started out different?

We used to see tons of coyotes on our leased deer hunting land until the wolves moved in. No more coyotes.

So just introduce some wolves....

And now the cougar hanging around the land will probably take care of the wolves!!

Not to hijack but we have tons of coyotes here too. It's just too darn hot to hunt them now, maybe in a month I'll be tearing their butts up. Got a new Tikka T3 22-250.

Never seen the Quiet 22s but want to play with them in yard. Maybe shoot a bird or a squirrel. Never knew they existed until yesterday on here.

I use a 5.56 with my AR and it always gets the job done...but if you want to get real creative a .308 makes it very interesting!! Especially if you wanna make some longer shots...

Don't start talking about long range on this thread, you'll probably have someone chime in that at 200 yards they killed a coyote with a 22 CB short!!!! LOL. All in good fun though. Yes my son has a Savage 308 mod 10FP rigged out for long range shooting and he likes those 500-600 yard shots at coyotes.

Hornady has 75 grain vmax for the 25-06 that may be the ticket for the op. I have had great success with the vmax out of my 223 and just ordered some 75's for my lil 06. Once I get done planting wheat & cutting soybeans I will work up a load and report back, hopefully also with pictures of dead coyotes.
