Questions for those who use lasers

Just bought a armalaser RSS rail laser for my HkP30 and HK45. I plan to keep it on my carry weapon (which one that is will depend on the season, the p30 is mostly for summer and the hk45 for winter)

a) do you have a laser in/on your carry weapon?

b) What range do you zero-in your laser?

c) if you have the option, do you prefer pulse or steady beam?

I have the CT laser on my 642 that I carry in my pocket.

I have it zeroed for 25 yards but its pretty close to anything up to 25 yards.

It's not too far off shooting at 50 yards. still within Minute of Bandit.

Dosn't work that well on bright sunny days outside, but if there is that much light I can see the sights.

Yes, Crimson Trace laser grips.

It's set for 25 feet. I practice close up because my vision is poor and I would not risk shooting at significantly longer distances than that in a self-defense situation.

Steady beam, definitely. Pulses give me headaches, be they on dance floors or on guns.

Decided to put the RSS on my P30, it seems to fit better, now to make a new holster mold. I'm going to try the steady beam pattern zeroed at 15 yds at my tactical course wednesday and see what happens.

On one of them More lasers, on more guns will be added as funds permit.

b) What range do you zero-in your laser?

20 Yards. That's good for "bad breath" out to 45 Yards or so.

c) if you have the option, do you prefer pulse or steady beam?

Having played with both, but my current laser having only the steady beam, I much prefer the pulse beam due to it's ability to draw the eye to where you are aiming.

My current off duty guns don't have lasers. One of the guns I carried last year, my "primary" did. I like the laser so much that I'm saving for three more lasers to put on my "primary and BUG" as well as my wife's gun.

a) I have an SP101 and an LCR. Both have Crimson Trace.
b) I zeroed at 20 feet but at less than that there’s little difference.
c) I have used only the steady beam and cannot comment on pulse.

CT Laser Grips
Zeroed at 25 yards
Steady beam

It tried a pulsing laser in a gun shop once and it did seem to bring my attention to the dot a bit quicker. I do prefer to maintain my standard blade sights as my primary sighting method though so the pulsing laser might actually be a detriment in practice.

I have Crimson Trace lasers on both my Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec PF-9. They don't add much weight or bulk, and add to my ability to shoot quickly and accurately. My 60+ yr old eyes aren't all they used to be when acquiring a quick sharp sight picture, and like the guns they are mounted on, it's always better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them.

I have both lasers zeroed parallel to the bore -- that is, the gun shoots 1" and 1.5" high at 7 yds. respectively. That should keep the point of impact <1"-1.5" from the laser beam for as far as I can see it.

The CTs are steady beams. That's the way I like 'em.
