Legal? Barrel Extension (NOT a suppressor)

Is that legal if I buy a "solid" aluminum tube as a decorative suppressor (akabarrel extension)?
I saw some people sell "barrel extension" on Internet and am just wondering it is legal or not.

A simple barrel extension would be legal and in no way an NFA item.

If you're planning to install it on a short barrel on your rifle to make legal length, remember that it would have to be permantly installed.

still legal (I think)

Both the Cobray M11/9 and the "imfamous" Tec 9 were both sold with slotted barrel extensions available as an option. I have also seen "solid" barrel extensions, which mimic the appearance (but not the function) of a silencer, sold as legal items fairly recently.

If you don't want to contact the BATFE, you might find a manufacturer for these items and ask them.
