I recently added a Browning 1900 pistol to my collection. There are so many proof-marks on it, I don't know where to start. Since I have some Brownings, and plan to collect more, what is a good source of info on proof-marks? I'd like to find out dates of manufacture, etc.

Another good book on proof marks is "The Standard Directory of Proof Marks, with WW II German Ordnance Codes" by Gerhard Wirnsberger. The code section is not complete and there are apparently errors found by more recent research. The proof mark part is good, and has more information on them than the Blue Book. Actually, anyone interested in guns should have both.
