red (green) dots as OE on combat handguns?
Here's one to chew on. Do you think holo and/or reflex sights will be fit as original equipment to combat handguns in the near future?
We see them more and more on Glocks and 1911s... and even "ready to install" on guns like the FN 45. Will they replace iron sights completely, or will they supplement them? Will we be able to walk into the local GS and buy a shinny new Sig Sauer or S&W "factory fit" with a high quality holo sight... in 3, 5, 10 years, or never? Cheers, C

There may be some specific versions or maybe some "special runs"of a model. However, I don't think there will be many of these. A lot of folks don't like them and they add expense. Those that do like such things probably differ a lot in the exact sight they want.

You're probably mostly right Jim. I think we'll see them as an OE option... in other words, like the FN 45, the slides will have the capability to accept a holo sight, but the added cost, durability concerns and complexity of a battery powered sight will prevent any wide spread acceptance on popular mid-priced handguns.
As we're already seeing lasers as option or original specification on many handguns... for most folks, I see that as the more popular trend. Cheers, C
