Playfair Arendeen ?
I'm pretty good at answering questions on the how-to's of making smoke, but I don't have weapon history in me. Somebody on another forum presented this question, and I thought I'd ask here:

From Side by Sides of the World by Charles Carder;
Playfair & Co., Charles: Charles Playfair, gun maker and dealer founded the firm of his name in 1821 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Playfair was awarded the honoer of 'Gun maker to Prince Albert'. He died in 1876, however his business was carried on until 1955. In 1845 his son, Charles II, moved to Birmingham, England and entered into a partnership with Thomas Bentley. Charles III (Lt-Col Playfair) supervised the merger of Bentley & Playfair with Issac Hollis & Sons. He was also chairman of the Birmingham Proof House. Later he became the director of BSA Ltd. |

Thanks much fal308. I'll pass on the information. I figured this was a good place to get accurate information.
