Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday, I shot some ammo at the range (10mm)--everything was perfect. Last night, I loaded some new ammo, again, everything was perfect. This morning, I cleaned the brass in my tumbler and reloaded it. Checking the reloaded ammo with my caliper, the diminsions were correct; however, when I put the ammo into the Max Cartridge Gage, it wouldn't fit. I don't understand what the problem is because the brass has only been used once. According to my digital caliper, the dimisions are correct.
What could be wrong? |

That's hard to tell. I have to assume the cartridges are clean and you are using the correct cartridge gage and you are trying to put the finished cartridge in the correct side of the gage. Make sure you are checking all the obvious things.
Then, where are they not fitting? In the front? Near the web? If the shell won't go in hardly at all, check your crimp die and your crimp dimension. If it toward the web, check for bulges in the brass. This should have been taken out by the sizer so maybe the sizer is out of adjustment. Without more information, that's the best I can do. Good luck

I checked all of the obvious things. It's not fitting at the end of the brass. Now, I just checked the brass, just taken out of the tumbler (without the primer, powder, etc.,) and I'm noticing that it's still not fitting in the Cartridge Gage. Here's a new question: Before tumbling the brass, do I need to take out the old primer?

No, you don't normally de-prime before tumbling them. I'd check the ammo in the barrel of the gun being used - sounds like your sizing die isn't going all the way down.

Valkman, you were so right--Thank You!
Previously, I was shooting new brass; therefore, not realizing that the brass needed to be resized. Thanks! |

Brass resizing
I resize all brass before using it. Even factory new brass right out of the bag. Just me, but I like to be in control of every aspect of the process. After all it is my body parts behind the gun when it fires.

Are you using a Dillon 550 B?The sizing die does not resize all the way down to the rim.I've had the same problem with case gauges. However, the cartridges chamber fine in my G29 and fire with no KBs.
