firing protrusion

how much protrusion should their be on savage model 511 sxs 12 ga, also how much clearance between barrels & reciever

Scrupples: It should be between .055 and .065.

There should be no more clearance between barrels and receiver than is absolutely necessary for the gun to open. It is hard to give an exact figure since there are tolerances, but the shells should not bulge. If in doubt, check with a gunsmith who has shotgun headspace gauges.
