target rounds for long range .223
Going to load 22 CAL 77GR HPBT MATCH with 7 1/2 primers, looking to get recommendations on powder and if you want to really help maybe share some of your favorite recipes. There gonna be going down a 24" barrel with a 1 in 7 twist.

I shoot 24.4 grns of RL-15 using both 77 & 80 SMKs out of my White Oak Service Rifle.
The 77s are loaded to fit the magazine for 200 & 300, the 80s are loaded long, just short of the rifling, for 600 & 1000 yards.

This is what I shoot out of both of my White Oak AR's. I also use the Remington 7 1/2 primers. In a pinch the CCI SR Br's will work too.

So will the CCI #41 military type primer. Also a magnum rated load.
Charles Petty had a series of articles on .223 loads for his Cooper rifle in which he tried changing different components. IIRC, the 7½ produced the highest velocities—equivalent to about half a grain more powder out of the 24 grains of Reloader 10X he was shooting under a 55 grain V-max. The lowest was Feder 205's. The 205's had the most consistent MV, though, and the 7½'s the least. Despite that, with his unadjusted 24 grain charge, they were the most accurate at 100 yards. If he'd run the 205's with 24.5 grains, maybe they'd have surpassed it, but he didn't do that experiment.

Rem 7.5 primer was a Small Rifle Magnum primer at one time.....
Another suggestion for loading is TAC. Measures like wate, and works well with heavy OTM bullets.... |

I had been flogging Varget. It works good for me in a 16 in H-bar with 69 grs,but I never quite got there with the 75/77 gr bullets. This last weekend I got some very good results using Re-15.I used 24.1 gr,a CCI mag primer,77 gr MK's with a knurled cannelure, and a very light crimp with a Lee collet crimp die.Three shots through the chronograph gave 2801,2801,2798.Brass was WW.I have a 20 in Northern Comp/Badger bbl.Wylde chamber.Chargeswere dispensed with my brother's Lyman automatic measure/digital scale. It seems to work pretty good.
