sav. 99e
i gave up on the iron sights and decided to use a scoped rifle for coyote hunting
the only rifle i can scope is a sav 99e in a .243 i dont shoot smaller rounds than my 7.62x39 what should i expect out of this rifle and just how much drop am i looking at if i am shooting 200yrds with a rem. corelock 100gr.? do i still have to sight in an inch low with this flat shooting of a round. how big of a hole will it make in a coyote at around that yardage???

If you zero at 200yds then bullet drop isn't important.
A 100gr Core-lokt will leave a hole surrounded by dead coyote. |

The savage 99 has a poor trigger and that will be your biggest challange but a few gunsmiths specialize in the 99 if you want to stick with that rifle. The 99s are very popular with the folks that spend time mounted, I have a 308

+1 Buzzcook. My old BIL killed a few truckloads of deer with a 243 Win88 and 100gr Powerpoints. The 100gr will cause less damage than the lighter varmint slugs available.

"...with a rem. corelock 100gr..." Factory ammo? Remington factory should be close to on at 200 when sighted in 1.6" high at 100. 2.9" low at 250 and 7.3" low at 300.
Mind you, how well the rifle shoots 'em matters. A 100 grain .243 bullet is a deer bullet. Only matters if you're keeping the hides.

from what ive been told buy the guy at the shop the 80 grain will mushroom faster leaving a bigger hole than the 100, not sure if its true but we will see.
it is a little big for coyote but it is the only rifle i have that will take a scope. i have stuck with iron sights for the first 3 or 4 years when i started shooting and in about 150yrds i have a hard time seeing through brush. my shot placement isnt always what i want because i cant tell what is the sage and what is the grayish colored coat. i decided it was time to step up to a scope at least for coyotes that dont always want to come in as close as rabbit or deer. i am making a bullpup k31 so i can center mount a scope and i am hoping that it will be my next yote buster.
