Would this be practical?
Would a small(under 12" in length) smg capable of firing in 5.56 NATO be practical. Just an idea that I had and was wondering if and if so how something like this would benifit the firearms world.

Most AR15 makers make 10.5" and 14.5" barreled uppers. Gotta have an SBR permit to own one. That permit is not available in my neck of the woods. The short barreled AR has been done. HK made one in the 70s or 80s I think. It has been done. Unless you're talking about a different platform.

Rocky Mountain Arms makes their "Patriot" in a select fire machinegun with a 7" barrel for PD's....since 1993.
Very noisy little gun but completely reliable...sounds like a 50BMG ! |

It wouldn't be an SMG if it's chambered in 5.56. As to how it would benefit the world, I think it would probably add to the overall fun quotient.

Ya, they have made them but 5.56/223 ammo sucks in short barrels. Basically, it's a "mall ninja" format. Looks cool and has zero function....
