That is interesting. I was under the impression that the Secret Service was the Criminal Investigation Division for them, much like the Treasury dept.

The IRS has had a enforcement arm since I believe the late 50's.

I trained with several CID officers in the 70's and 80's, they used 870 Scatterguns then, looks like they need more! So nothing new here.

My understanding is that IRS is expanding a bit, so perhaps this is just an increase in allocation, or they are replacing "end of service life" weapons.

Good Luck & Be Safe

Isn't it typical government that they would order them with barrels 2 inches to short to be legal once the time comes to sell them!!!

As if they would ever notice that extra 2 inches..

But hay, it's only tax dollars they are squandering......and sense they are the IRS they know where to get plenty of that.

And this just occured to me.......do you think that by pointing this out I have just siged up for a audit???

I know we need government but could it just be a little less ignorant of the real world?????

Well it's 4" shorter than legal. I believe the 14" length was chosen because it is probably the shortest length you can get without shortening the mag tube. That length is popular with other military and police agencies and is probably a standard length offered by Remington for such contracts.

Am I just stupid?
Dont answer that, but what the hell does the IRS need those short shotguns for?
I always pictured IRS as seat warmers.
Am I missing something?

I've heard of "shotgun weddings" but this is the first I ever heard of shotgun tax collecting.

You're right, it's 4 inches.
It's those kinds of math skills that will get me in trouble when they come around to do the audit as my punishemnt for questionsing their common sense.
