325gr Swift Bullets in 45 Colt

Just wondering if anyone had some data on this combination. I bought the Swift reloading manual and the only data they had was for the .454 Casull. Any help or links would be appreciated.

I would doubt that the bullet will have enough speed from your 45 Colt to make the bullet perform as intended. I would guess the max speed is going to be something like 8-900'ps and fall rapidly which is why there is little or no data for it. Just too much bullet weight in a low pressure case. Average pressure for the 45 Colt is only 14,000lbs.

Just for grins the other day I sized down some Lyman 457122 330 gr. HPs to .452 to see what they looked like. BEAUTIFUL. I'm sure you could cast some from a 20/1 lead/tin mix that would expand at the lower velocity of the 45LC. Sure beats the cost of those jacketed bullets and the mould is made for the 45/70 if you have one.

based on SPECIFIC launch platform

I have offered and used this bullet in customer 45 Colt ammo.
I have both 300g and 325g's still on my shelf.

It, when launched from a 45 Colt-chambered pistol (capable of handling such ammo), can pass long-ways through a 200+lb deer, breaking EVERY bone it touches.
At 75 yds.
In front of witnesses.
In the rain.

Data available; contact direct with specifics.

I guess I should have mentioned I plan on using these in a 20" barreled EMF 92.

Weshoot2, I'll be emailing you this weekend. Thanks.

is that longer than a 7.5" Redhawk?

What is it? (sounds suspiciously like a -gasp!- rifle)

I can still help; what powders do you currently have on hand? Primers? Cases? Tooling?
Intended/anticipated use environment?

And anything you'd like to add..........
