Crimp size?

I'm new to this. I loaded some .45acp. 200gr. lead bullets. Using my Lee factory crimp I was getting .461 measured on the crimp. I hav'nt read too much about crimping.

.461 is way too much. I load the 200 gr lswc pretty exclusivly. You will get several answers but most say they crimp just enought to remove the belling caused to seat the round. Most others crimp between .469-.471. I used to crimp to .469 like my wilson combat book said but after i pulled a few rounds i noticed it was cutting into the lead. I backed it down to .471 and at that it just barely smooshes the round ever so slightly. I have had good results with that lately.

Yup, that's way too much.

Double the casemouth thickness.

Add that to the actual bullet diameter.

That is what your crimp should measure.
