H&R 929 firing pin
Greetings to the Smithy Forum, I don't visit here often and now I was hoping a little guidance with a revolver that fails to fire about every other cylinder. Its not much of a revolver (inexpensive) and someone gave it to me. I know very little about revolvers but it seems as it might be a firing pin issue. Is there a way to fix. Oh yea its a Harrington and Richardson model 929 9 shot 22lr 2.5in bbl. Since I own it I might as well fix it rather than let it take up room in the safe. Any links to help or advice is appreciated.

The most common problem with those revolvers (aside from improper assembly) is a weak mainspring (hammer spring) or a broken, bent, or backward mainspring guide. There are a couple of different guides for those guns, so check with the serial number info at
www.gunpartscorp.com to see which you need. Also look at the diagram and make sure yours is not in wrong. Jim |
