Once the neck expander start down the neck most times it fixed or straightens the neck out.
See it a lot on 5.56 and every now and then I'll have one I have to use needle nose pliers on but never had a problem reloading them. If the brass is split then throw it away.

It looks like the begining of a split neck to me...I would take a hammer to it and throw it into brass scrap bucket.....good eye..

I have had this in a few -06 rounds of myne. I used them and never had a prob. What stage are you again? Did you resize them allready? Or did you just deprime and clean? I trimmed them down a tad under OAL and that took care of them for me. Had 3 or 4 loads through them and no prob....

Scrap em? Because the mouth has a dent? Why would you do that?
Size and trim. Use and normal.

If your goal is accuracy and precise ballistics, scrap it. If your plinking at the range, shoot it. Check it after shooting and see what it looks like. I plink and have reloaded and shot many cases that have had dents or imperfections like that. Most times they expand back to normal. If you choose to reload them simply inspect them carefully before making a decision.

Hey, it's your brass, you do what you want with it but I wouldn't consider throwing it away.
If "a few cases" have the SAME mark, it must be something mechanical doing it. Stress/cracks would not produce the *same* mark. If those are from an auto, I would assume that they're hitting the gun on the way out. Even a bolt gun could do that if they're ejected forcefully.

Looks to me lioke sometime during the resizing process the neck of that shell hit the edge of the opening on a/the die and got bent over. I've done it with handgun ammo many times. Just run it deep enough into the sizing die to iron out the dent, load it, shoot it and enjoy it.

Did you guys notice the small split in the shoulder? Thats what I was commenting on. The mouth can be worked out, but that split in the shoulder can open up and send hot gas into the chamber wall....not even cool.
