VX-I vs. VX-II

Is the difference between the two worth the extra 100 bucks? I'm going to buy one of the two here soon and don't know if theres a big enough difference to go with the VX-II. Thanks guys

Difference in scopes?

Probably yes. Lens coatings, etc. better in Vari-X II. But I might make a suggestion that you look into buying a good quality "used" Vari-X III Leupold scope. Far better (all around better scope than these two you mentioned). Just something to think about. Check out Ebay or Gunbroker.com.

There is a difference. But in reality if you're looking for a 3-9x40ish scope you can pick up a Bushnell 4200 or Nikon Team Primos that at least equals the VXII for less money.

There is a difference, I have never been able to tell it with the naked eye. I will second part of the earlier poster's advice, take a look at the Bushnell Elite series, I've always been a Leupold man but these are great scopes. I don't like Nikon, had warranty problems w/them.

There is more than $100 difference between the two.
VX-1 is garbage at that price point.
VX-II just starts to become acceptable for a big game recoil rifle.
