With the present state of political affairs, any S&W gun can be expected to appreciate in value no matter what.

As for Taurus, I have a friend with a Taurus that has never had a problem with it...but he hardly ever goes shooting. I have another friend who does shoot and he has been through two Raging Bulls and always problems so he sold it and now has a Ruger SBH and is trouble free.

Buy a Dan Wesson .44 for 500. Excellent guns. Well known accuracy and strength. Many people, including myself, prefer them over Smiths and Rugers and they far superior to any Taurus. Most people aren't aware of these guns which keeps prices down. The Ruger SBH can be had for 450 and they are excellent .44s.

Ruger Redhawk or Super Redhawk would do it.

Are you this guy?

Any gun will suit.

I might shoot more than that in an afternoon just testing new sights or stocks.

Around here it's Ruger and S&W (okay, and my NAA mini) not for their brand name, but for their demonstrated continued performance.

I own a Taurus Tracker 44mag 4". It's an ok gun. I'll throw it in a holster and carry it when trekking in area's of northern MN and WI. But like I said, it's just an ok gun. Once you get several thousand rounds through the gun it really starts loosening up, at least that has been my experience with the Taurus Tracker (I did own a 357mag and currently own a 44mag).

If you are going to buy a Taurus revolver, buy the Raging Bull.

I own several large frame revolvers from Ruger, S&W (including the 4" and 8 3/8" 500 mag), and Taurus.

As others have stated in earlier posts of this thread, the Taurus Raging Bull line is a very good line of durable, accurate revolvers for those that don't want to break the bank. I own the 44mag in 6.5" and 8 3/8", and the 41 mag in 6.5". These are excellent guns for hunting. I can tell you from experience as someone who owns high priced revolvers, the Taurus Raging Bulls are a very good line. No, I wouldn't put them on par with the Ruger Redhawk or Blackhawk, or S&W, but if you buy a Raging Bull you will get a very good revolver that will last you many years and be dependable and accurate.
