Advice needed

So I am looking to pick up a good CCW for the wife and thought I had it nailed down with a good .380 or 9mm, well she threw a curve ball today and said a Revolver interested her more. Not having any place I can think of to rent and test locally, what should I be looking for? .38??

642 or Lady Smith. Yes on the 38.

Will for sure! We did that with the 9mm and .380, thats why I thought we had it nailed down. But if it feels better for her, no argument from me!

If you are thinking 642, or something like it, I would find one to shoot first. They are pretty snappy. A Ruger SP101 or a S&W 640 are all stainless and would absorb a bit more recoil.

Beat me to it! When a man comes into the LGS where I work and says he's there to pick out a gun for his wife my standard response is "where is she?"

The main issue is there isnt a place locally that I have found to rent and test. Unless you pay some crazy amount of money to become a member.

Talk to some guys at your local range....a lot of us have a variety of revolvers....and you might find someone that will help you out /let her put a few rounds thru their guns ...so she can decide what she wants.

A revolver a lot of young shooters in my family like / is the K frame S&W in .357 mag in a 4" ....like a model 19 or 66 ....they're affordable / and if you shoot .38's in them, they're very easy to shoot and to control.

Dunno where in CO you are, but there is a range in Englewood that rents guns..... supposed to be anew one in Castle Rock that does, too, but I've never been to that one, yet.

I don't know how experienced your wife is at shooting, but if she's a novice... a light weight 38 snub is NOT a great place to start.

They are GREAT guns once you've mastered the basics of trigger control and sight alignment, but not real easy to learn on.

If she's an experienced shooter, then yeah, an airwieght (or similar) snub 38 would be a good choice.

I checked into them, but you have to be a member to use the range and rent.

She served for 8yrs and was a very good shooter. She shoots very well with my Ruger and was very accurate with my friend's FS .40

I've had great luck with my Taurus 651B (zero profile hammer). It's 357, but of course can use .38. Pretty versatile little carry gun.

Check out the Ruger LCR. It comes in .22LR, .38spl and .357mag.

Ruger will also be introducing it in .22mag.

It's a fine snubnose and IMO has a better trigger and handles recoil better than the competition.

Don't own an LCR, but I've been very impressed with the triggers on the ones I've handled. Seems like a very solid choice.
