help identify my carcano
i have recently inherited a 1938 7.35 cal carcano from my great grandfather. and was wondering what type of carcano so i can find the parts missing to restore it. i would also would like to know some other imformation also.

You would need at least a new stock, a new handguard and a new barrel band. Numrich seems to be sold out on Mod. 38 stocks. Guess it's time to hunt the gun shows, but it's probably worth more to you as your grandfathers gun than as a restoration project.

I used to love being able to hit hard at 1000 yards. As I get older I find hitting a mini ram at 200 yards with the 22 oddly more satisfying. |

Yes I'm just trying to get it back to wall mounting or posibly shooting standards. This heirloom Is going to defiantly be staying in the family. Thank you for the help

Go over to Yesterdays Weapons Forum, they have an Italian section with more info than I have found any other place and some major dedicated Itl. collectors that have always answered my questions.

You have a M38 Carcano made by Terni, chambered in 7.35 it saw service in Finland's military (SA) stamp.
You need a stock, hand guard, band w/screw and nose cap w/2 screws. It may be more cost effective to find a donor rifle for the needed parts. Under $100 for a rusty rifle. The Carcano is still a very low cost rifle. The bayonets can cost 3X's what the rifle does. |
