Blank Question

If I take to bullet off of a .22 shell, left the powder in, and stuck in some kind of wadding, and shoot, if the wadding gets stuck in the barrel, will the gun blow up? I don't think it would get stuck, but have any of you guys made blanks? And how do you do it?

Are you specifically searching for a way to blow up a gun?
'Cause I got experience....

22 shell? Do you mean a 22 long rifle? Actually it doesn't matter, simply taking the bullet out of the shell does NOT make it a blank. The powder simply does not burn without the bullet to provide resistance. The BANG you hear is the high pressure gasses escaping. No bullet, no pressure.

No wad you could push in the empty case will provide enough resistance to make it a blank. IF the reason for this is to produce a report, you won't!

22 blanks are made every day, for starting pistols and dog training. Buy some!

Thanks, but you're wrong. The powder is made to burn under pressure, no bullet, no pressure. People that say it will go bang simply do NOT understand what happens inside a shell during firing it.

The 22 blanks use a special very fast burning powder and a heavy wad, or crimped closed case mouth.

Remove the bullet, put some tissue in the case, all you'll get is a POOF! AND a very dirty barrel!

Nagative and I did not give much information on how I have done it. As a kid, we experimented with this kind of stuff and sometimes the results were not always good. That is why I suggested that the OP buy the blanks as opposed to getting hurt. ...

This time I'll go with you and you are correct; It should not be done !!!

Be Safe !!!

I have helped make blanks for center fire rounds 38 special. No need to make them for 22 or...get the 22s from home depot that are used to drive fasteners into concrete.
