Recomended seating depth for Nosler 45 cal.230grn FMJ

I was wonder if any body hear had the nosler manual and could look up the seating depth/OAL/COL for the the 45 caliber Nosler 230 grain FMJ. I bought some but my manual hasn't arrived and I would like to begin reloading them but would like some recomended info on them from Nosler first.

Solo, I'm just getting back into reloading, and it happens that I used Nosler 230 FMJ for my first 100 rounds. My Midway LoadMAP for .45 ACP indicates an overall cartridge length (OAL) of 1.275". I loaded a few test rounds at this length and found that, with the slightly flattened nose on subject bullet, my finished rounds did not fit will into my magazines. I decreased the OAL to 1.265" on subsequent rounds, and they worked well. FYI, I used 5.2 grains of W231. A fellow next to me at the range let me shoot a few through his chrony. Average velocity was about 735, which is close to what LoadMAP said it should be. Also FYI, I'm using Lee carbide dies, and Lee carbide factory crimp die. These dies work like a charm. In a pinch, try using the oal of factory ball or GI ball as a point of departure, if nothing else.

The Nosler manual (#4) does not give seating depths for any of their bullets in any caliber. The only info that they give is the SAAMI max (and sometimes) min OAL for any given cartridge. For the .45 acp these are 1.190" and 1.275". I guess they figure that anybody using their bullets is going to be experimenting, looking for the best combination of components and assembly. Like the doctor said, the flat nose is a little wider at the end than regular rn ball profile would be, so it needs to be a little shorter than the max oal or the "corners" rub in the mag (at least in mine). You might have to play with the lengths of a few dummy rounds to see if they will work in your mags okay.

did you notice the in the LoadMAP they gave only the 1.275" cartridge oal for all of the 230 gr. bullets? In other weights the oal they gave varied with different bullets.
